AASHTO Seeks Associate Multimodal Transportation Manager

The American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials – an equal opportunity employer – seeks to hire an Associate Program Manager for Multimodal Transportation; a full-time position located in the organization’s Washington, D.C., office.

The Associate Program Manager for Multimodal Transportation position supports the administration and implementation of initiatives, programs, projects, and special assignments for the AASHTO councils listed below and operates under the direction of the   Program Director for Multimodal Transportation.

The AASHTO councils supported by this position include Aviation and Rail Transportation; contract programs supported include the State-Amtrak Intercity Passenger Rail Committee and the Next Generation Corridor Equipment Committee; the Unmanned Aircraft Systems/Advanced Air Mobility or UAS/AAM Working Group – a cross council/committee working group for emerging technology; and the AASHTO Rail Resource Center technical service program.

Candidates for this position should have a minimum of four to six years of progressively responsible experience, preferably with trade and membership associations. A bachelor’s degree is required and evidence of a higher degree of professional development, such as a postgraduate education, is highly desirable and may substitute for part of the required years of experience.

Applicants must also have excellent written and oral communication skills; the ability to serve and represent members on councils, committees, subcommittees, and technical working groups that form the foundation of AASHTO; project management skills, including planning and tracking project budgets and deliverables; and the ability to work in a team environment.

An understanding of the U.S. transportation system – specifically aviation and rail – as well as broader surface transportation policy, regulations, procedures, and practices at federal and state level is preferred.
