The draft of the agency’s 2026 Unified Transportation Program or UTP includes an estimated $101.6 billion for projects statewide; a plan that includes $7.5 billion of new funding. This will be the third consecutive year the UTP exceeds $100 billion, TxDOT pointed out.

“Hearing from the public and collaborating with our transportation partners across the state will inform this plan to increase safety, meet the demand of a growing state, and improve Texans’ access to jobs, family and quality of life,” noted Marc Williams, TxDOT’s executive director, in statement – adding that public feedback on the draft UTP will be accepted through July 28.
[Editor’s note: Williams recently served as master of ceremonies for a ribbon cutting ceremony celebrating the much-anticipated opening of the new $1.3 billion Harbor Bridge.]
Updated each year, TXDOT said the UTP serves as a “road map” that guides project development to improve safety, address congestion and connectivity, and preserve roadways. It also includes sections on public transportation, maritime, aviation, rail, freight, international trade and bicycle and pedestrian connectivity.
The Texas Transportation Commission will consider approval of the UTP in accordance with Texas state law at its August commission meeting, TxDOT said.
