Governor Patrick Morrisey (R) recently named Stephen Todd Rumbaugh as secretary of the West Virginia Department of Transportation and commissioner of the West Virginia Department of Highways; a division of WVDOT. He replaces Jimmy Wriston, who stepped down from those positions on January 13.

Rumbaugh has more than 30 years of service with WVDOT, holding several positions over that time for the agency, including: construction inspector, designer, area supervisor, staff engineer, regional construction engineer, director of contract administration, and chief engineer of construction.
Rumbaugh resides with his family in Eastern Kanawha County, where he was born and raised.
Concurrently, the governor also named Michael DeMers as WVDOT deputy secretary. He comes to the agency with more than 17 years of experience in transportation, including work at the Missouri Department of Transportation and the Arizona Department of transportation.
DeMers holds a bachelor’s degree from Tufts University and a Master of Urban Planning degree from Harvard University.
