AASHTO said this guide defines essential factors involved in structural bolting operations as well as the qualifications required for personnel tasked with inspecting those operations.

The guide is intended to assist infrastructure owners with the development of individual training and qualification programs for structural bolting inspectors.

This publication is part of the AASHTO- National Steel Bridge Alliance Steel publication series, whereby AASHTO and NSBA work together to develop specifications, codes, standards, and policies to unify the existing diverse requirements governing steel bridge construction.
