Kentucky Unveils New 2024-2025 State Highway Map

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet – in partnership with the Kentucky Tourism, Arts, and Heritage Cabinet – recently unveiled the new 2024-2025 State Highway Map, which highlights the commonwealth’s new “Larger-Than-Life” trail.

The trail includes 12 unique tourist attractions around the state, like Henderson’s largest collection of aviary images, the giant floral clock in Frankfort and Dinosaur World in Cave City.

Hikers can explore the Red River Gorge in the Daniel Boone National Forest and boaters can enjoy one of the state’s 45 major lakes. This issue of the map also features a special nod to Kentucky’s natural sandstone arches, KYTC noted.

“However you choose to enjoy Kentucky’s attractions and scenic views – by foot, bikes, cars or motorcycles – our focus is on providing a transportation network to get you there safely,” said KYTC Secretary Jim Gray in a statement. “Even in our modern age, printed maps have their place and continue to be a fan favorite requested by travelers and families in and out of our borders to chart their great Kentucky adventure.”

“From our signature bourbon and Thoroughbred industries to our rich culinary traditions, iconic music and unparalleled natural beauty, our new Kentucky home offers no shortage of reasons for lifelong residents and visitors alike to get out and explore the places and meet the people that make our commonwealth one of a kind,” added Governor Andy Beshear (D).

The KYTC noted that the new map includes highway information and important traveler information, including primary and secondary roads, symbols for parks and trails, state police posts, weigh stations, and more.

Maps will be available at Kentucky rest areas and welcome centers. To download an electronic copy or request a printed copy of the new map, visit: https://transportation.ky.gov/Planning/Pages/OfficialHighway-Map.aspx.

Other state departments of transportation have also issued new state highway maps in recent months as well.

In August, the Ohio Department of Transportation began distributing 1.4 million copies of the state’s new travel map that also highlights the “Ohio, The Heart of it All” tourism brand.

The new state map – which debuted at the 2024 Ohio State Fair – features the latest road changes, updated routes, and points of interest to help travelers navigate Ohio with ease.

Designed for both local residents and tourists, the new Ohio state travel map provides essential information on highways, byways, and notable destinations, the Ohio DOT said.

The 2024 map contains photos of attractions, families enjoying the outdoors, and notable locations in the state. It also lists facts about the state, contact information for the Ohio State Highway Patrol, information on Ohio’s distracted driving law, and reminders to move over and slow down for roadside workers.

Meanwhile, the Missouri Department of Transportation recently noted that its Traveler Information Map is now optimized for both mobile apps and native browsers. The update allows the map to be displayed on mobile devices without having to download the “Traveler Information Map App.”

The agency said the map provides the traveling public with traffic updates, road conditions and closures, as well as winter road conditions and now more customers can now access this information through their mobile device’s browser.

The mobile application version will still be available for download and will provide the same up-to-date information, MoDOT said; noting that, when the app is installed on a device, it will launch in place of the mobile browser version.
