AASHTO said it participates in this event to promote the many opportunities available within the organization and the mobility industry as a whole, focusing particularly on job openings among state departments of transportation and other AASHTO members. That includes promoting the AASHTO Jobs Board to job seekers as an employment search resource.

State DOTs that attended the 2024 career fair included the California Department of Transportation, the North Carolina Department of Transportation, and the Connecticut Department of Transportation.

Private industry firms such as AECOM, Kimley-Horn, and others attended as well, along with government agencies such as the Federal Highway Administration, the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, the Federal Transit Administration, and the Federal Railroad Administration, among others.

Various advocacy groups attended the career fair as well, including the Conference of Minority Transportation Officials and WTS International, which is focused on creating a “more diverse, inclusive, and equitable transportation industry through the global advancement of women.”

AASHTO also staffed several booths at the 2024 TRB Exhibit Hall to highlight the range of products and services it provides to the transportation sector – from publications and engineering software to laboratory accreditation for construction materials through its AASHTO re:source division, based in Frederick, MD.
