AASHTO developed this specification guide to establish and define the basic minimum requirements for the transportation, handling, and erection of steel bridge components for safe and accurate structural assembly.
The group said the new guide is intended to more accurately describe the duties and responsibilities of erectors, contractors, design engineers, erection engineers, fabricators, inspectors, and owner agencies for providing safe steel bridge assembly contract documents and subsequent construction plans.
This publication is part of the AASHTO- National Steel Bridge Alliance Steel publication series, whereby AASHTO and NSBA work together to develop specifications, codes, standards, and policies in an effort to unify the existing diverse requirements governing steel bridge construction.
All AASHTO–NSBA Steel Bridge Collaboration publications are available to download, free of charge, at the online AASHTO Store.
