The first open position is for a communications manager, who primarily responsible for planning and executing a proactive strategy in support of AASHTO’s mission, to raise public awareness of the association’s key messages and the critical role AASHTO and state DOTs play in shaping national transportation policy and delivering a safe, multimodal, and resilient transportation system for communities across the country.
Position activities include, but are not limited to, communications planning, coordinating media interviews, development of key messages and talking points, drafting news releases, and cultivation of news media and association contacts with the overarching goal of generating earned media.
Successful candidates should have a minimum of eight years of experience working in journalism and/or communications. Previous transportation industry experience and experience with association or non-profit work is desirable, but not required. A bachelor’s degree is required, preferably in journalism or communications, and a graduate degree in a related field is desirable.

The second open position is for an Alliance/Partnership Manager for AASHTOWare, a division of AASHTO that offers a suite of transportation software products delivered through a collaborative business model with state departments of transportation across the country.
The primary duties of the Alliance/Partnership Manager is to establish and maintain effective working relationships with current AASHTOWare alliances, properly vetting potential new alliances and relevant product and/or service offerings through its alliance application process.
Successful candidates should have a minimum of five years of related professional level experience in project management, contract administration, business law or a closely related field, or education may serve as substitute. Previous experience should demonstrate both professional growth and increasing responsibility. A bachelor’s degree, preferably in business, finance, or management, is required, with evidence of a higher degree of professional development or a master’s degree in business desirable.

The final open position is for a Business Operations Coordinator, who provides administrative support to the AASHTOWare technical service program and is responsible for tracking all private sector customer orders from initial product inquiries and software requests through final fulfilment.
Duties include but are not limited to providing contract management administrative support through the creation of appropriate licensing agreements for customers; processing and tracking of travel reimbursement claims from task force members; and participating in the annual AASHTOWare budget and catalog development process as directed.
Successful candidates should have a minimum of five years previous experience working in an administrative role within a technical environment as well as in customer service, with strong experience in the use of software applications and suites. A high school diploma is required, with college-level course work in business or accounting desired but not required.
