The American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials has appointed J. Eric Boyette (seen above), secretary of the North Carolina Department of Transportation, to a two-year term as chair of its Committee on Data Management and Analytics, known as CDMA.

CDMA focuses on the collection, procurement, processing, analysis, reporting, and sharing of transportation data. It also addresses issues related to knowledge, expertise, resources, and tools needed by state departments of transportation to implement a robust data management and analytics program within their agencies.
Boyette – appointed NCDOT’s secretary in February 2020 – previously served as the secretary and state chief information Officer of the North Carolina Department of Information Technology or NCDIT for two years.
At NCDIT he was in charge of all information technology procurement, state cybersecurity, operational services, broadband infrastructure, solutions division, data analytics center, the N.C. 911 Board and strategic IT planning.
Prior to his time with the NCDIT, Boyette held several leadership roles within NCDOT, including chief information officer, inspector general, and division of motor vehicles commissioner.
