The latest episode of the AASHTO re:source podcast takes a closer look at another AASHTO technical service program—the National Transportation Product Evaluation Program or NTPEP. It is the first in a multi-episode series focusing on the program.
AASHTO re:source – which launched this podcast series in September 2020 – is part of the engineering and technical services division of the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials.
It provides services and tools through three major programs: the Laboratory Assessment Program, the Proficiency Sample Program, and the AASHTO Accreditation Program.
NTPEP combines the professional and physical resources of the AASHTO member departments to evaluate materials, products, and devices of common interest for use in highway and bridge construction.
The program’s primary goal is to provide cost-effective evaluations for the state DOTs by eliminating duplication of testing and auditing by the states and duplication of effort by the manufacturers that provide products for evaluation.
In this podcast, AASHTO re:source went on the road to the 2021 NTPEP annual meeting in Rhode Island to interview four champions of the program to learn more about NTPEP and its benefits for users.
