The American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials will hold its annual Washington Briefing starting Tuesday, February 27, on through Friday, February 28, at the Washington Court Hotel in the nation’s capital.

The meeting will focus on legislative issues related to transportation policy, infrastructure funding, and safety, as well as ongoing efforts aimed at developing a national strategy to support transportation automation.
U.S. Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao will deliver the luncheon keynote address on Wednesday, February 26, with Maryland Governor Larry Hogan (R) – chairman of the National Governors Association – giving the luncheon keynote address on Thursday, February 27.
Members of Congress will provide their insight on critical transportation legislation during the Briefing’s Wednesday, February 26, morning session.
They include: Senate Environment and Public Works Committee Chairman John Barrasso, R-Wyo.; House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee Chairman Peter DeFazio, D-Ore.; House T & I Subcommittee on Highways and Transit Ranking Member Rodney Davis, R-Ill.; and House Ways and Means Subcommittee on Trade Chairman Earl Blumenauer, D-Ore.
Patrick McKenna, Missouri DOT director and AASHTO’s 2019-2020 president, will lead a panel discussion on February 26 at the Briefing entitled Toward Zero Deaths: State DOTs Renewed Focus on a National Public Health Crisis.
